Abstract
With sodium cinnamate and benzyl chloride as raw materials, hexadecy trimethylammonium chloride as a catalyst, benzyl cinnamate was synthesized directly under normal pressure and microwave irradiation. The effects of amount of catalyst, power and time of microwave irradiation on yield were studied. The most suitable reaction conditions were that with 50mmol sodium cinnamate, the mole ratio of sodium cinnamate and benzyl chloride was 1.0 ∶1.2, the amount of hexadecy trimethylammonium chloride was 1.0g and the microwave irradiation time 25min with the power of 300W. The yield of benzyl cinnamate was over 84%.
