Abstract

The synthesis reaction of di-n-butyl phthalate is studied. Phthalic anhydride and n-butyl alcohol are as matherial, and ferric chloride as its catalyst .The technical conditions are studied too. The result shows that the optimum production conditions as following:phthalic anhydride-to-n-butyl alcohol is 1:3, the reaction time is 1.5 h ,and ferric chloride is 3% of the weight of phthalic anhydride. The yield of di-n-butyl phthalate can come up 94.4%.
