Abstract
In this paper dibutyl phthalate was synthesized with ferric sulphate as catalyst. The influences such factors as the amount of the catalyst, namely ferric sulphate, the amount ofn butanol and the reacting time on esterification were studied.By comparative studies, the best conditions were the catalyst is 3% benzenic anhydride, the ratio of butanol to benzenic anhydride is 3:1,and the reacting time is 2h,and the corresponding conversion of phthalic anhydride reaches 99.0%,and the recovery of pure ester reaches 93 1%
