Breeding and Utilization of Indica Restorer Line Mianhui 3728 with High 1000-Grain Weight and Good Grain Quality

Mianhui 3728,derived from the cross between Fuhui 838,a restorer line with high 1 000-grain weight,and Mianhui 725,a restorer line with low grain chalkiness and good grain quality,and developed by Mianyang Agricultural Research Institute,is a new indica restorer line with high 1 000-grain weight(about 38 g) and good grain quality(meeting the 3rd class of state standards of fine quality rice).It is characterized with compact plant type and high plants,strong restoring ability,high combining ability,heavy pollen load for a potential high yield of F1 hybrid seed production.In August,2004,it was technically identified in Sichuan Province.Its F1 hybrid combinations showed high yield and good grain quality.Among them,Yixiang 3728(Yixiang 1A/Mianhui 3728) was registered by Sichuan Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2005,and its grain quality met the second class of state standards of fine quality rice.
