Abstract

It has been academically acknowledged that the first book of Chinese literature was written by British scholar Horis, which was published in 1901 under the title of Chinese Literary History . This article, however, argues that An Outline of Chinese Literature, a book which was written by a Russian Chinese scholar V.P.Vasiliev and was published in 1880 by a printing house in St. Peterburg, is without doubt the earliest book on Chinese literary history in the world.
