Abstract
The book Chinese Modern Literary History 19171997 Compiled by Zhu Donglin, Ding Fan and Zhu Xiaojin, marks a great improvement in the work of the literary history rewriting and the new textbook compiling. It provides us with some new points of view on literary history and a model for systematic research represented by the theory structure of 20th century Chinese literature. It is a valuable textbook dealing with literary history, which reflects the history ideology that modern literature must be classicalized gradually and fit in with the needs of teaching practice.
