Abstract
Objective To study the biological significance through detecting the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) protein in pancreatic adenocarcinomas(PC) and other pancreatic disease organization. Methods PCNA proteins were detected by SP immunohistochemical method in formalin-fixed paraffinembedded samples of 32 PC,12 normal pancreatic tissues and 10 benign pancreatic disease samples. Results The expression of PCNA protein was found in PC,normal pancreatic tissue and benign pancreatic disease samples with proliferation index(PI) values 30.26±14.23,21.63±6.76 and 8.09±3.60 respectively. There were significant differences(P0.05) among pancreatic carcinoma and normal pancreatic tissue and pancreatic benign disease.PI values were remarkable lower in well-differentiated,middle-differentiated and stage Ⅰ~Ⅱand than in poorly and stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ.Conclusion The expression of PCNA can reflect malignant degree and the activity of the growth of pancreatic carcinoma.
