Abstract
Objective To study the biological significance through the detection of the expression of p53 and bcl-2 protein in pancreatic adenocarcinomas(PC) and other pancreatic disease tissues. Methods p53 and bcl-2 proteins were detected by SP immunohistochemical method in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded samples from 32 pancreatic adenocarcinomas(PC),12 normal pancreatic tissues which were adjacent to pancreatic carcinoma but confirmed pathologically as normal pancreatic tissue, and 10 benign pancreatic disease cases. Results The positive expression of p53 was only found in PC with positive rate of 36%,and was unrelated to the clinical and histopathologic features of PC.The expression of bcl-2 protein was found in PC,normal pancreatic tissue and benign pancreatic disease cases with positive rate of 46.9%,25.0% and 20.0% respectively. The expression of bcl-2 protein was related to the clinical and histopathologic features of PC.bcl-2 positive rate was remarkably higher in well-differentiated,middle-differentiated and stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ than in poorly and stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ. Conclusion The expression of p53 and bcl-2 might play an important role in the pathogenesis of PC.The expression of bcl-2 might reflect the biological significance of PC.
