The Contradiction Between Chinese Literature and World Culture(II)——On the Problem of the Nationalization, Westernization and Globalizationof the 20th-century Chinese Literature

Starting from the analysis of the 20th-century Chinese literary history, the essay holds that the nationalization and Westernization of the 20th-century Chinese literature are practically a failure. The cosmopolitanism of the contemporary Chinese literature is supposed to have its root in the basis of the original artistic schemata derived from the modernization of the Chinese society, rather than from the West or from the inheritance of the national tradition. Therefore, the author disagrees that the Chinese literature be nationalized or Westernized but agrees that it should follow the way of globalization.
