Abstract

This experiment of fruit bagging was conducted by using seven types of membrane and paper bags were used to examine the effect of bagging on fruit quality of Korla Fragrant Pear(Pyrus bretschneideri Rehd).Non-bagged fruits were used as control. The results demonstrated that chlorophyll and xanthophyll content in the pericarp of bagged fruits were significantly lower than that of control.Single fruit weight was 6 g lower than that of non-bagged fruit.Soluble solid concent increased by 1.2%.The hardness of bagged fruits generally increased by 17.5%.Titratable acid increased by 24% compared with that of control. The effect of different bag tpye on fruit quality showed significant differences. At noon, air temperature inside a white plastic bag increased dramatically by 2.3 ℃ from 13:00 to 19:00 while the light intensity inside a paper bag has reduced very significantly. Therefore, the environmental factors were the direct predispositions of fruit quality change of Korla Fragrant Pear.Purple plastic bag and Kobayashi bag was more favorable to Korla Fragrant Pear due to its minor negative influence on fruit quality. It was suggested that bagging of the Fragrant Pear were suitable from the last ten-day period of May to the first ten-day period of June.
