Treatment of Chinese medicine in early,mid-term period of knee osteoarthritis

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee. Methods 160 patients were randomly divided into traditional Chinese medicine group and western medicine group( each 80 cases). Traditional Chinese medicine group was applied Chinese herbs: rhizoma drynariae,clematis root,mulberry parasitism,twotooth achyranthes root,eucommia bark etc. in oral,a dose daily,every morning and evening to take. The western medicine group was treated with Glucosamine Sulfate Tablets,2 tablets each time and 3times a day. Evaluation was conducted in 4 weeks of treatment respectively. Results After 4 weeks treatment with traditional Chinese medicine group and Western medicine group the total effective rate were 95. 6% and 84%,there was significant difference between two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine can improve the patients' pains from osteoarthritis of the knee pain,stiffness,dysfunction and other symptoms and the whole treatment process did not appear unwell reaction.
