Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of the application of Bi-level Airway Pressure Ventilation(BiPAP) for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases(AECOPD).Methods 15 Patients with AECOPD were treated with BiPAP ventilation in addition to conventional treatment.Every case was given counseling psychology and appropriate manipulation of pressure settings. The changes of clinical symptoms and arterial blood gas(pH,PaCO_2,PaO_2) were measured to evaluate the efficacy of BiPAP ventilation. Results After BiPAP ventilation, the clinical symptoms of all patients had been improved significantly with a decreased respiratory rate, improved oxygenation. Also, the clinical parameters showed significant differences(P0.05) compared with those before BiPAP ventilation. Conclusions Through the perfect nursing in the clinical use of BiPAP ventilation,it can reduces the pain and complications and improves quality of life of the patient. So BiPAP ventilation is a safe and effective method for patients with AECOPD.
