Abstract
This essay mainly expounds the relationship between Zhang Jian, a famous national entrepreneur, and the culture of modern China. It is indicated that the root of modern culture is the reality of saving the nation from subjugation and ensuring its survival, and in that special history case, to a large extent, Zhang Jian's concept of modern culture influenced his thought of business management. The experience gives us some important inspiration in developing private economy, and creating scientific, democratic and advanced culture.
