Researches on the Origins of ZHANG Jian's Library Thought

ZHANG Jian, one of the pioneers of modern library cause, played an important role in promoting the rise of the public library in the late Qing and early Republican era. This paper introduces the internal causes of the birth of ZHANG Jian's Library Thought, analyzes the influence of Western cultural charity work and librarianship on ZHANG Jian's Library Thought, probes into the domestic situation and regional advantage based on which ZHANG Jian's Library Thought came into being, and expounds ZHANG Jian's efforts for saving the Chinese excellent culture heritage by using the library.
