Significance of ultrasonographic diagnosis in appendicitis in Children

Abstract

Objective:To explore the ultrasonographic character of appendicitis in children.Methods: Data of eighty-six patients with appendicitis confirmed by ulteasonund were examined and compared with surgical and pathological findings.Results:All the cases were confirmed by surgery and pathology with coincidence with ultrasonographic findings.These findings were swollen appendicitis,thickened diameter and wall,coarse mucous membrane or interrupted echo in diagnosis.The accuracy rate of ultrasonographic diagnosis was 78%.Conclusion:Ultrasonography is of high value for diagnosis of appendicitis in children.
