Abstract
Objective To investigate the ultrasonography value in the classification of appendicitis in children. Methods 90 patients suspected as appendicitis and diagnosed as appendicitis by ultrasonography, then the characteristics of ultrasonography were analyzed, classified and compared with pathological results. Results Among 90 patients, ultrasonographic diagnosis rate of appendicitis was 98.9%.The ultrasonographic images were: the appendixes thickened, the appendicle wall thickness and the mucous membrane coarse with echo interrupted or absent.Different of appendicle wall and echo reflected different pathological classification. There was 91.3% with acute appendicitis,97.8% with acute suppurative appendicitis,76.2% with acute gangrenous appendicitis and 100% with-periappendicular abscess. Conclusion H-Frequency ultrasonography is of high value for the diagnosis and classification of appendicitis in children, and can accurately estimate the extent of inflammatory changes and help clinicians to choose rational treatment.
