Abstract
Objective To explore the ultrasonographic characteristics of appendicitis in children. Methods The ultrasonographic characteristics of 75 patients with definite acute appendicitis were analyzed. The data were compared with surgical and pathological results. Results All the cases were confirmed by surgery and pathological.26 cases were simple appendicitis,37 cases were purulent appendicitis,10 cases were gangrenous appendicitis and 2 cases were suffered from appendiceal abscess.75 cases of them were diagnosed as appendicitis and the left five cases were in negative results. The coincidence of ultrasonic diagnosis was 93%.Conclusion Ultrasonography has high value for diagnosis of appendicitis in children.
