Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus(type 2 diabetes mellitus,T2DM) and sex hormones, sex hormone-binding protein,we analyze the serum sex hormones and sex hormone-binding protein levels in the men first diagnosed patients with T2DM.Methods The serum sex hormones and sex hormone-binding protein levels were assayed by using electricitychemiluminescence immunoassay between T2DM group and control group. Results Compared with the control group, the serum total testosterone and sex hormone-binding protein levels were significantly lower, the difference was statistically significant(P0.01),and estradiol level was significantly higher in the T2DM group, the difference was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion There was a significant relationship between the serum sex hormones and sex hormone-binding protein in men first diagnosed patients with T2DM.Sex hormones and sex hormone-binding may play a role in the occurrence and development of T2DM.
