Abstract

following Hu Guo'an's academic approach, Gao Kang, in his Notes to the Spring and Autumn Annals, gives his explanation with idealist ideas, which show his sense of morality and political views. His work reflects the ethics and political thoughts of scholars of Simingluo school in the period of the Southern Dynasty. In the book he stresses feudal cardinal principles and respecting the king and resisting the foreign invaders. It also expresses a series of ideas for managing state affairs which have distinct characteristics of the era. His work had certain impact on the study of The Spring and Autumn Annals in later years.
