Tang Shouqian and the Preparation for Constitutionalism in the Late Qing Dynasty

Tang Shouqian,a well-known thinker and constitutionalist,was one of exponents of Shenshang in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.In the preparation for constitutionalism in the late Qing Dynasty,Tang Shouqian dealt with other Shenshang worthies such as Zhang Jian and Zheng Xiaoxu.He engineered the preparation for constitutionalism,paid close attention to bureaucracy reform and participated in mobilizing and organizing parliament petition and so on.What he did played an important role in the rise and development of Constitutional Movement in the late Qing Dynasty.But the temporizing of Qing Dynasty on the constitutionalism produced his rejection.According to the variable situation after the Wuchang Uprising,he turned into a republican from a constitutionalist.
