Abstract
Objective: To expole the effect of bFGF on peripheral nerve regeneration in allogenous nerve graft. Methods: A segment about 10 mm of sciatic nerve was excised from adult Wistar rat and treated by repeated freezing and thawing. Then the nerve was transplantated in the gap of sciatic nerve of another adult Wistar rat. The 8 rats were divided into the experimental group(AF) and control group(A). bFGF 100 u was injected into AF group every day. Normal saline was injected into A group. The rats survived for 12 weeks after allografting. Results: After treated and calculated with biosterology, it was found that number facial density(N A) and facial facial density(A A) of the regeneration nerve fibers were significantly higher in AF group than in A group. The volume density(V V) and number density(N A) of the neurons in the anterior horn and ganglia of L 4~6 spinal segments were significantly higher in AF group than in A group. Conclusion: The bFGF not only promotes the regeneration of peripheral nerve, but also protects the cell body of neuron after allogenous nerve graft.
