Analysis of the complications during embolization of intracranial aneurysms

Abstract
Objective To discuss how to prevent and manage the complications during embolization of intracranial aneurysms.Methods 72 patients with aneurysm were embolized by microcoil,but 7 patients had complication.The reasons,prevention and management of the complications were reviewed.Results The complications occurred in 7 patients,including vasospasm in 7 patients,re-rupturing of aneurysms in 3 during embolization,the coils escaping from the aneurysm sac into its parent artery in one,thrombosing in one.Conclusions The endovascular embolization is a safe,effective and micro-invasive method to manage intracranial aneurysms.The complications of embolization for intracranial aneurysms can be decreased by improving embolizing techniques.
