Relationship of combined detection of hs-CRP and PCT and degree of coronary atherosclerosis

Abstract

Objective To discuss the relationship between the degree of coronary atherosclerosis and the level of hypersensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) and procalcitonin(PCT). Methods 118 patients with coronary artery angiography were selected for study, including coronary heart disease group(n=89) and normal control group(n=29).According to the Gensini score system,coronary heart disease(CHD) patients were divided into three groups as 30 group(n=24),30~60 group(n=37) and 60 group(n=28).hs-CRP and PCT levels were determined and compared between groups and correlated with Gensini score. Results PCT and hs-CRP levels of CHD patients were significantly higher than those of control group(P0.05). At the same time, PCT and hs-CRP levels increase gradually with the increase of Gensini score, with a correlation index of 0.88 and 0.90(P0.05), respectively. Conclusions PCT and hs-CRP levels are positively associated with the degree of atherosclerotic lesions. Combined detection of PCT and hs-CRP can early diagnose CHD caused by coronary artery atherosclerosis.
