Study on levels of serum MMP-9 and hs-CRP and their correlation with coronary artery lesions in patients with coronary heart disease

Abstract
Objective To study the levels of serum MMP-9 and hs-CRP and their correlation with coronary artery lesions in patients with coronary heart disease.Methods One hundred and four patients in our hospital underwent the coronary angiography were selected.According to the diagnosis,all patients were divided into stable angina group in 26 cases,unstable angina group in 30 cases and acute myocardial infarction in 28 cases.At the same time,20 cases with normal coronary angiography were designated as control group.The venous blood samples were taken from the patients immediately after admission for detection of MMP-9 and hs-CRP.Gensini scores were calculated according to coronary angiography.The correlation of the level of MMP-9,hs-CRP with the Gensini score was compared and analyzed.Results The levels of serum MMP-9 and hs-CRP in AMI group and UAP group were significantly higher than those in SAP group and control group (P < 0.05),and were higher in AMI group than those in UAP group (P < 0.05),and were higher in SAP group than those in control group,but without statistical significance (P >0.05).The levels of serum MMP-9 in CHD groups were greatly correlated with Gensini score (r =0.697,P <0.01)and the levels of serum hs-CRP in CHD groups were greatly correlated with Gensini score(r =0.813,P <0.01).The levels of serum MMP-9 were greatly correlated with hs-CRP in CHD groups(r =0.734,P < 0.01).Conclusions The levels of MMP-9 and hs-CRP in patients of ACS were much higher than those in SAP and control group and are correlated with coronary artery lesions.Combined detection of MMP-9 and hs-CRP can be used as useful indicators for forecasting major adverse cardiac events for coronary disease.
