On Two Special Rhyming Patterns in the Poems of Jiangzhe Poets in Song Dynasty

Abstract

An exhaustive study of the rhyming patterns employed by the poets from Jiangzhe(Jiangsu and Zhejiang) in Song Dynasty shows that tongue root and nasal coda in Yang tone generally rhyme in the three sections of Gengqing,Jiangyang and Dongzhong,and that the rhyming between Yin-tone rhyme and Yang-tone rhyme generally take place between the two sections of Hanxian and Jianlian and the section of Zhiwei.These two special rhyming patterns both reflect the features of Jiangzhe dialects in Song Dynasty.
