Data Analysis on HIV Voluntary Counseling and Testing in Fuzhou City,2008-2009

Abstract

[Objective] To understand HIV voluntary counseling and testing(VCT)services.[Methods]Retrospective data including demographic and HIV laboratory testing information among individuals who received HIV services at the VCT clinic in Fuzhou from 2008 to 2009 were collected and analyzed.[Results]Of the 1 287 people seeking VCT services during the two-year period,94.41% of them were 16-45 years old,81.59% of them were male.3.44% were HIV positive.The HIV prevalence rate in 2009 was 4.41% and it was 2.01% in 2008(P0.05).The HIV prevalence rate in the male was 2.89% and it was 5.76% in the female(P0.05).The main reason for seeking VCT service was sexual contact,accounting for 77.62%.[Conclusion]HIV VCT is an effective way to get people to be aware of their sero-status and to implement effective prevention and care interventions for both HIV-infected persons and AIDS patients.
