Abstract

Objective:To summarize the clinical effectiveness of conservative and surgical treatment of condylar fracture. Methods:48 cases with 53 condylar fractures(31 cases with nonsurgical,17 cases with surgical treatment) were analyzed retrospectively. We calculated the facial type, width of mouth opening, pattern of mouth opening, mandibular movement. occlusal relationship and temporomandibular joint function for one year to evaluate the effectiveness.SPSS 11.0 stastical package were used for data analysis. Results:The effects were satisfactory in all cases, and there was no statistical significance between the two different treatments(P0.05).Conclusions:Every treatment of condylar fracture has its own advantages, disadvantages and indications. For rehabilitating the function and configuration, suitable treatment should be chosen individually.
