Abstract
The concept and relationship of digital city and digital urban planning(DUP) are analyzed; and the supporting technology system of digital urban planning, such as 3S(GPS,RS,GIS), database management system, auto_modeling, simulation and visualization, computer network, distributed computing, decision supporting system and expert system, data warehouse and data mining, multimedia, etc, and their status in quo and interrelated countermeasures adapting to digital urban planning, are discussed in detail. At last, the paper presents DUP's development necessity to integrate modern information technology, and UDP's direction: multimedia and multi_objects planning based on the objects of urban or area system, and sustainable development.
