Abstract

The activities and distribution of digestive enzymes in the juvenile,young and adult stages of Chinese Snakehead Channa asiatica were studied. The results showed that activities of digestive enzymes increased with the development of C. asiatica,especially appeared prominently in protease and lipase. In the young C. asiatica,the protease activity was highest in intestine,and significantly lower in stomach compared with intestine and lipase;the trypsin activity was highest in hepatopancreas,and lower in stomach and intestine. While the amylase and lipase activity in stomach was significantly higher than intestine and hepatopancreas. In the adult C. asiatica,the protease activity was highest in midgut and hindgut mucosa,and was lowest in stomach mucosa;the trypsin activity,highest in midgut and foregut mucosa,lowest in hindgut mucosa;the amylase activity highest in hindgut and midgut mucosa,lowest in foregut mucosa;and the lipase activity in the stomach mucosa was distinctly higher than those in other digestive organ or tissues.
