Abstract
para-Methoxyacetophenone(p-MOAP)was prepared by the acylation of anisole(AN)and acetic anhydride(AA)with iodine used as a catalyst. The effects of various factors such as molar ratio of anisole to acetic anhydride, dosage of catalyst, reaction temperature and time on the yield of p-MOAP were examined. The suitable reaction conditions were optimized as a anisole /acetic anhydride(AA)mole ratio of 1∶1.5,catalyst weight of 1g,reaction temperature of 100 ℃,reaction time of 1.5 h.The highest yield of 88.37 % is obtained.Catalytic activity of different kinds of catalysts in acylation of anisole with acetic anhydride has been investigated. The experiment result indicate that iodine can be used as a catalyst for the acylation of anisole.
