Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint injection in treating diabetic nephropathy. Method Fifty-six patients with diabetic nephropathy were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 28 each. The treatment group was intervened by acupoint injection plus medication, while the control group was by medication only. The 24 h urine total protein(UTP), serum creatinine(Scr), and urinary albumin excretion rate(uAER) were observed 24 h before and after the treatment, and the clinical efficacies were compared. Result The total effective rate was 92.9% in the treatment group versus 75.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05). After treatment, the 24 h UTP, Scr, and uAER were changed significantly in both groups(P0.01,P0.05). The treatment group was markedly different from the control group in comparing the 24 h UTP, Scr, and uAER after treatment(P0.05). Conclusion Acupoint injection is an effective approach in treating diabetic nephropathy.
