Abstract

Clear resistivity picture from FMI logging could be visually used for investigating the sedimentary structure and paleocurrent.However,the statistic analysis of laminae dips within whole target intervals is the common method for paleocurrent study without considering the deposition change in different sedimentary microfacies.With the branch channel and mouth bar of delta front as example,the prograding is presented in different positions of these sand facies by researching the relationship between log curve shape and its sedimentation.The slope or inclination of angular bisector of tooth-like curve could be used for investigating the principles.From this,put forward are appropriate steps of paleocurrent study,which focuses on finding progradation bedding within the target sandbodies with FMI logging information.Some examples from the Jiyuan oilfield,Ordos,are presented to prove the applicability of this method.
