Abstract
The significance of Chen Lun lies in its portrayal of the revolt against the outdated feudal morality and ethical codes on the part of young intellectuals after the May 4th Movement. On the other hand, the protagonist, though the representative of intellectuals in the new era, is imbued with traditional culture, which has to some extent followed the humanistic emotion of ancient China.
