Abstract
Objective To summarize the therapy,difficulty and efficacy of microvascular decompression for primary trigeminal neuralgia,and to explore its etiological factors.Methods The clinical data of 52 patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia treated by microvascular decompression were analyzed retrospectively.Results The responsible vessels were found in 50 cases during operation.Of 50 cases,46 cases were cured,5 cases were relieved,and 1 was ineffective.No patient recurred after followed up for 3-37 months.Conclusion The microvascular compression of root of trigeminal nerve is the main etiological factor of primary trigeminal neuralgia.Microvascular decompression is an ideal method for treating primary trigeminal neuralgia with positive effect and complete conservation of corneal reflex and facial perception.
