Relationship between genital tract-derived Ureaplasma urealyticum and infertility and analysis of the drug resistance

OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between genital tract derived Ureaplasma urealytium(Uu) infection and infertility,as well as antibiotic resistance. METHODS By culture technique,genital tract secretions from 160 couples with infertility in sterility clinic and 30 couples with normal pregnancy were tested for genital tract Uu.Meanwhile,we analyzed drug resistance of the strains and compared infection with genital tract Uu in the two groups. RESULTS In the 160 couples with infertility,Uu infection rates in male and female were 31.25% and 40.62% respectively.In the 30 couples with normal pregnancy,Uu infection rates in male and female were 10.00% and 16.67% respectively.There was significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Drug susceptibility analysis showed the drugs with high susceptibility were minocycline,doxycycline and josamycin.Erythromycin showed the highest resistance rate. CONCLUSION The genital tract Uu infection rate of infertility patients is significantly higher than normal pregnancy population.Uu infection may be an incentive to cause the infertility of men and women.The antibiotics with high sensitivity,such as minocycline doxycycline,and josamycin,should be the first choice for the treatment.
