Abstract
Objective To evaluate the influence of Salviandic acid B (SA-B) on some neurohormonal factors and interstitial collagen in ventricular remodeling induced by abdominal aortic banding (AAB) in rats.Method Ventricular remodeling model was induced by AAB in rats.Rats were randomly divided into 6 groups:normal,model,SA-B high,SA-B middle,SA-B low and Captopril control group.The drug groups used gavage method.The systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were measured,the ratios of LVW/BW (1eft ventricle weight/body weight),HW/BW (heart weight/body weight) were calculated,the Angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ) in heart tissue and Aldosterone (ALD) concentration of plasma were checked by radioimmunoassay,hydroxy proline (Hyp) content in heart tissue was measured by hydrolysis method,the level of type Ⅰ and Ⅲ collagen in myocardium were determined by western blotting.Result SA-B could decrease the cardiac indexes of LVW/BW and HW/BW,significantly reduce the content of Ang Ⅱ activity,significantly down-regulate Hyp content and the level of type Ⅰ and Ⅲ collagen in myocardium.Conclusion SA-B can inhibit heart interstitial fibrosis in experimental ventricular remodeling by inhibiting Ang Ⅱ activity.
