Abstract
Objective To estimate the diagnostic value of plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) in patients with congestive heart failure and the relationship with cardiac functional parameter. Methods Plasma BNP concentration of patients with CHF(CHF group,n=26) and those of normal controls(control group,n=21) were measured by chemiluminescent immunoassay.Left ventricular ejection fraction and cardiac index were measured by echocardiography. Results The plasma BNP concentration of patients in CHF group were significantly higher than those in control group(P0.01),they also increased according to the severity of heart failure classified by NYHA.The plasma BNPlevel in CHF group had a positive correlation with LVEF and CI.(r=-0.409,P0.01、r=-0.483,P0.01). Conclusion The plasma BNP level is a senstive index reflecting the damage of cardiac function,it may be a useful biochemical parameter for evaluating the CHF.
