Effectiveness of Xiaopi Recipe on Gastric Emptying and Plasma Motilin Level in Rats with Functional Dyspepsia

Objective To investigate the influence of Xiaopi Recipe (XPP) on gastric emptying and plasma motilin level in FD rats and approach the possible mechanism of XPP on FD. Methods The rats were divided into four groups randomly: normal control group, model group, Cisapride treatment group, XPP treatment group, the latter three groups were established FD model. The plasma motilin level and semi-solid gastric emptying rate in rats were measured after treated for 2 weeks. Results The semi-solid gastric emptying rate in model rats was lower than that in normal control group (P0.01). The emptying rate in Cisapride treatment group、XPP treatment group was significantly improved than the model group (P 0.01). The plasma motilin level in model rats was lower than that in normal control group (P 0.05), the motilin level in XPP treatment group was significantly higher than that in the normal control group and model group (P 0.05,P 0.01). Conclusion There is low plasma motilin level and slow semi-solid gastric emptying in FD rats. XPP can increase plasma motilin level, which improve gastric emptying in rats.
