Abstract

With Fenton's reagent as initiator, corn starch modified with enzyme as main chain, the styrene(St), butyl acrylate(BA), methacryloxyethyl trimethylammonium chloride(DMC) and N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide(NMA) as main raw monomers, the soap-free emulsion sizing agent based on corn starch grafted by styrene-acrylate comonomer was prepared by free-soap emulsion polymerization, and the structure and properties of the copolymer was characterized with FT-IR, particle size analyzer, static contact angle and SEM. The results showed that the excellent performance and good sizing effects of styrene-acrylate copolymer emulsion were achieved whenm(total monomers):m(starch) =2:1,m(α-amylase)=0.4%,m(H2 O2)=2.3%,m(St)/m(BA)=3,m(DMC)=1.5%, m(NMA)=0.3%, the dosage of surface sizing agent was 0.4%.
