Efficacy and safety of benazepril combined with lercanidipine on essential hypertension

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of benazepril combined with lercanidipine on essential hypertension patients.Methods Eighty patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension were randomized to group A(benazepril 10 mg/L,ercanidiping 10 mg)and group B(benazepril 10 mg).At the end of 4 weeks,the dosage of benazepril in patients with SeDBP≥90 mmHg were doubled for additional 4 weeks,and the patients with SeDBP90 mmHg remained the initial regimen to 8 weeks.Results Compared with group B,the reduction of blood pressure was significantly greater at the end of 8 weeks in group A(P0.05),and the reaching target blood pressure rate was better at the end of 4 and 8 weeks(82.1% vs.59.5%,P0.05;87.2% vs.67.6%,P0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse events between the two groups.Conclusion Benazepril/lercanidipine combination therapy for essential hypertension was effective in increasing the reaching target blood pressure rate and reducing blood pressure,and was well tolerated by patients.
