Abstract

Purpose to evaluate prospectively the CT staging of rectal cantal cancer by comparing the results of surgery with the finding of CT. Methods The CT images of 94 cases of rectal cancer proven by surgery and pathology were studied, with double - blind method for T and N staging .Results CT accuracy in T staging of rectal cancer was 79.3% .the sensitivity of Tis- T2,T3 and T4was 73.3% ,80% and 92.9% respectively. The criterions for evaluating metastatic perirectal lymph nodes(diameter 5mm) provide 84.1% diagnostic accuracy,80% sensitivity, and 75.6% specificity. Conclusion The preoperative CT staging of rectal cancer was useful.
