Clinical efficacy and effect on the level of insulin-like growth factors-1(IGF-1)of donepezil hydrochloride in the treatment of vascular dementia

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and the effect on the level of insulin-like growth factors-1(IGF-1)of donepezil hydrochloride in the treatment of vascular dementia.Methods 98 patients with vascular dementia were randomly divided into donepezil hydrochloride treatment group(51 patients)and control group(47 patients).MMSE scales,ADL scales and CDR scales were used to assess cognitive dysfunction,daily living activities and degree of dementia in all patients.The level of IGF-1 were measured in all patients before and after treatment,and the level of IGF-1 of 38 healthy men were measured to be compared.Results The effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P0.05).MMSE scales,ADL scales and CDR scales in the treatment group were better than that in the control group(P0.05),the level of IGF-1 in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Donepezil hydrochloride can effectively improve cognitive dysfunction and daily living activities,so lower the degree of dementia.Furthermore,donepezil hydrochloride can improve the level of IGF-1.
