Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effects of carvedilol on patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). Methods: Forty-five patients with CHF were randomly divided into two groups. The control group (group B) was given diuretic, cardiac glycoside and nitric acid ester, the therapy group (group A) was added with carvedilol. Carverdilol was given small dose in the beginning. Results: Sixteen weeks after treatment, the NYHA class and Left ventricular ejection fraction of all patients were improved significantly(0. 39 to 0. 50,P0. 01 in group A;0. 38 to 0. 41,P0. 05 in group B). Compared with control group LVEF significantly increased in therapy group (P0. 05). Conclusion; Carvedilol is effective for the patient with CHF.
