Abstract

Objective: To explore the protective effect and its mechanism of the traditional Chinese medicine complex, ferulic acid compound, on cerebral ischemia reperfusion in rats. Methods :Experimental cerebral ischemia reperfusion in rats was made by occluding the two- vessel and bleeding from tails. To observe the effect of ferulic acid compound on levels of endothelin - 1 (ET - 1) 、 calcitonin gene- related peptide (CGRP) 、 malonaldehyde (MDA) 、 energy metabolism 、 the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and histopathological analysis in brain tissue. Results:Ferulic acid compound can decrease the level of ET- 1 、 MDA and lactic acid in brain after cerebral ischemia reperfusion in rats, and also improve the contents of CGRP 、 ATP and Na+ - K+ - ATPase activity. The effect of ferulic acid compound was related to dosages, and its effect was better than the positive salvia miltiorrhiza. Eerulic acid compound can increase the HSP70 expression significantly and alleviate cerebral ischemic changes histopathologically. Conclusion :The effect of ferulic acid compound in many ways may be related to its protection against ischemia reperfusion brain injury.
