Abstract

A sensitive method for the determination of iodine by spectrophotometry was developed.Cetyl pyridine chloride(cpc) can react with I-3 to form a stable complex. The results showed that the maximum absorption of the complex is at 520nm,the molar absorptivity is 1.008×105L/mol·cm.Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0~12.00μg/25mL.The method was applied in direct determination of I in salt and satisfactory results were achieved
