Abstract
The colour reaction of N-cetylpyridinium chloride(CPC) with 4,4′-bis[3-(4-phenylthiazol-2-yl)triazenyl] biphenyl(BPTTBP) has been studied.The results show that,in the medium of NaOH,the CPC reacts with the reagent to form a purple ion pair complex with the molar ratio of 1∶1.The complex exhibits maximum absorption at 592 nm with a molar absorptivity of 2.84×104 L·mol-1·cm-1.Beer′s law is obeyed for CPC in the concentration range of 0~1.0×10-5 mol/L.The method was applied to the determination of CPC in waster water sample with satisfactory results.
