Abstract

Objective To explore the changes of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and C-reactive protein(CRP) in serum level in type 2 diebetes mellitus(T2DM).MethodsThe levels of VEGF and CRP were measured by ELISA in 98 patients with T2DM and 30 control subjects.Results①The levels of VEGF and CRP were higher in T2DM patients than in controls(P0.05),The levels of VEGF and CRP in T2DM patients with vascular complications were higher than those in T2DM patients without vascular complications(P0.05).②Serum level of VEGF was positively correlated with that of CRP in T2DM patients(r=0.9865,P0.01).③VEGF and CRP in T2DM patients were correlated with insulin resistance index(P0.05).ConclusionVEGF and CRP might participate in the occurrence and development of T2DM and the vascular complications. There may be some similarities between VEGF and CRP in diabetic patients.
