Effect of insulin glargine combining with repaglinide on blood sugar of old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Objective To study the effect of insulin glargine combining with repaglinide on blood sugar of old patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods Analyzed retrospectively the clinical data of insulin glargine combining with repaglinide(Observation group,n = 50) and novolin 30 R(Control group,n = 50) for 100 old patients with type 2 diabetes in our hospital from March 2010 to August 2012.Results Comparing with control group,fasting blood glucose(FPG),blood glucose 2 hours after breakfast(2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),insulin dosage,body mass index(BMI) and the incidence of hypoglycemic events were improved significantly in observation group.In addition,the curative effect in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group.Conclusion The insulin glargine combining with repaglinide can better control blood sugar of type 2 diabetes,which has a lower incidence of hypoglycemic events and high curative effect.It is a good treatment for old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and worth popularizing application in clinic.
