The clinical observation of insulin glargine combined with repaglinide in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus

Objective To evaluate the curative effects and the security of insulin glargine combined with repaglinide in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Fifty-eight patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from the community where shengjian 83 Hospital is located from June 2007 to December 2007 were treated by insulin glargine combined with repaglinide.The fasting blood glucose,2 hours postpradial blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin,the body weight and the body weight index were measured,and the incidence of the hypoglycemia was observed. Results All the 58 patients being selected completed the treatment and the observation.After 24 weeks of the treatment,the mean values of fasting blood glucose,2 hours postpradial blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin decreased by 2.17mmol/L,3.26mmol/L and 1.45%respectively,the difference were statistically significant(P0.05).The body weight and the body weight index slightly increased,but the difference were no statistionly significant. The incidence of hypoglycemia was lower. Conclusion The effects of blood glucose control of insulin glargine combined with repaglinide in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus were good,the incidence of hypoglycemia is low and the compliance is good.
