Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of different dosages of naloxone on acute carbon monoxide poisoning. Methods A total of 127 patients with acute carbon monoxide poisoning admitted to the First People' s Hospital of Jingmen from 2008 to 2012 were selected, and they were divided into groups A( without naloxone,n = 23),B( with common dosage of naloxone, n = 35) and C( with high dosage of naloxone, n = 33). Wake-up time, incidence of delayed encephalopathy and adverse reactions, mortality and clinical effect were compared between the two groups. Results No statistically significant differences of mortality was found between the two groups( P 0. 05). Wake-up time of C group was shorter than that of B group, and that of B group was shorter than that of A group( P 0. 05); the incidence of delayed encephalopathy of groups B and C was lower than that of A group, respectively( P 0. 05). The clinical effect of C group was better than that of B group, and that of B group was better than that of A group( P 0. 05). Adverse reactions of groups B and C were mild. Conclusion High dosage of naloxone has better clinical effect on acute carbon monoxide poisoning, can effectively shorten the wake-up time, and is safe.
